Shri Oscar Fernandes, Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent
Charge) for Labour & Employment, Govt. of India presented
the national level safety Awards for the Awards Year - 2007
to 29 organisations from the manufacturing sector and 32 from
the construction sector (including Clients) in a well attended
function at 5 p.m. on 10th January 2009, Nehru Centre, Mumbai.
Shri Anand G. Mahindra, Chairman, National Safety Council
presided over the Function and Shri K.C.Gupta, Director General,
NSC welcomed.
The teams from the award winning organisations comprised
three representatives - Head of the Unit, Head of the SH &
E department and Worker-Member of the Safety Committee demonstrating
the participative approach in the management of occupational
safety and health.
Over 50 invitees who attended the function include - members
of NSC Board of Governors, senior officers from Central and
State Govt. departments, Awards Committee Members, management
personnel from industry, family members of the representatives
of the Award winning organisations and students from selected
institutes conducting diploma course in industrial safety
and engineering colleges.
Before the start of the function, two minutes' silence was
observed for paying homage to those who lost their lives in
the terrorist attack in Mumbai on 26th November, 08.

Sarva Shreshtha Suraksha Puraskar (Top Manufacturing
Sector Award - Golden Trophy and Certificate) was presented
to Narora Atomic Power Station, NPCIL, U.P. B.B. Mittal, Station
Director led the team

Golden Safety Award (Top Construction Sector
Award - Golden Shield and Certificate) was presented to Larsen
& Toubro ltd., ECC Division, Birbhum, West Bengal. T. Azhaguvel,
GM & Head, Kolkata Cluster led the team
