Shri
V. B. Sant is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from IIT, Mumbai with
a PG Diploma in Management from IIM, Ahmedabad.
Shri
Sant started his professional career with Escorts and Hero Honda Motors
in the Project Management area and was instrumental in planning and
commissioning of the Hero Honda 'CD 100' Motorcycle Project in a record
time of 14 months. He was a faculty for Mechanical Engineering at
Chandrapur Engineering College.
Prior
to joining NSC as DDG in August, 09, Shri Sant worked for 20 years
in Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes
(DGFASLI), Mumbai under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt.
of India. He served there as Faculty for various training courses
and as a resource person for a number of studies conducted by the
Central Labour Institute. He was also associated with formulation
and execution of three ILO projects. He was involved in organizing
six All India Conferences of Chief Inspectors of Factories and two
Conferences of Inspectors of Dock Safety. He was also associated with
the Working Group constituted by the Planning Commission for preparation
of the report on Occupational Safety and Health for the 10th Five-Year
Plan.
As
Director-In-Charge, Factory Advice Service Division in DGFASLI, he
was closely involved in preparation of the proposal on comprehensive
amendments to the Factories Act, 1948.
Shri
Sant has worked on various Committees, Working Groups, Task Forces
constituted by the Ministry of Labour and Employment and Conferences
of Chief Inspectors of Factories and DGFASLI relating to OSH.
