3-day International Workshop on Preparation of Emergency Plans for the APELL
NSC successfully organized a 3-day International Workshop on Preparation of Emergency Plans for the APELL (Awareness and Preparedness for Emergencies at Local Level) Project Officials from Sri Lanka from 7 – 9 March 2007. The workshop was specifically designed by NSC for the APELL Project officials from Sri Lanka as a part of our technical co-operation with the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme).

workshop marks a new level of international recognition of NSC’s experience
and expertise in the field of disaster management.
NSC has been implementing the APELL Programme in high risk industrial pockets in different regions of the country for the last 15 years. A series of projects related disaster management have been implemented under this Programme.
1. Implementation of APELL in 6 high risk industrial areas (1992-97)

3. Setting up of National APELL Centre (NAC) in NSC HQs (2002)
4. Setting up of NAC Subcentre at Tuticorin (2004)
