NSCI Safety Awards Scheme - An Overview


The National Safety Council institutionalised three distinct national level awards schemes for the calendar year - Manufacturing Sector since 1998;  Construction Sector from 2005 and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises from 2009 and a new scheme for Service Sector from 2020. The objective of the award schemes is to recognize and reward the organisations in the Manufacturing, Construction, MSME and Service sectors for their meritorious Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) performance & commitment to reduce workplace injuries, implementations of the best OSH practices and encourage continual improvements.



Applications are invited for the Awards Year 2020. Sector-wise eligibility, assessment/performance period and details of awards click at the following link:

Assessment Process


The assessment criteria are objective, comprehensive and rigorous. The assessment process comprises the following stages:

(i) The information furnished in the application document will be assessed and the score will be awarded. 
(ii)   Based on the score in the above assessment, site visits to selected organizations will be made to assess OSH system implementation at the site.
(iii)   Based on the above assessments, top-scored organizations would be invited to make a presentation before the awards committee.
(iv)  Data verification will be sought from CIF/PCB/AERB as the case may be for selected organizations.
(v) The final list of Award-winning organizations will be prepared on the basis of the above stages of assessment.

Awards are judged by the Awards Committee appointed by the Board of Governors of the Council.




  • The announcement in February/March through Circular, Newsletter and NSC website
  • Procurement of Application Forms (with Rules & Regulations for participation) from NSC Office or download from NSC website
  • Submission of completed Application along with prescribed entry fee by 30th June
